Europe Vaca Update

We made it to Zurich! And after we landed my worst nightmare came true. We were the only ones left standing at our baggage carousel and MY bag was NOT there! The carousel stopped...they took our flight number off the screen and I looked at Kirk and said "Scheisse!" As we walked over to tam to lost and found I told him that the vacation was about to get more expensive because I am going shopping! Luckily a very nice man helped us and tracked my bag down in Amsterdam...it's flying to me now and they said it would be delivered to the hotel by midnight tonight. God is good...my bag could still be in the USA. Here are some silver lining moments from my nightmare coming true:

- Kirk was able to break his German speaking in with the man at lost and found after he was super annoyed that the woman who exchanged our money refused to speak to him in German because he is American.

- Our walk from the train station to the hotel was about 10 minutes and I did not have to lug a huge bag behind me!

- The bag is going to arrive before we leave for Italy tomorrow morning (at least that is what they said)...who knows how they would have gotten it to us if it would have taken us longer since we will be in so many different cities.

- They gave us vouchers for free flights with the airline which we were just going to give to Kirk's friend Jan in Germany since we will never use them....but then we realized they expired in 2007...nice!

I am just glad they knew where my bag was. On with the rest of our vacation. Off to watch Germany beat England!!
The Snells are here...Bring it Europe!

All Together Now...Aaawwwww

Kirk has dreamed of having an English Bulldog since he was little...and last Wednesday at 12:00 pm his dream became a little bit more of a reality. These little adorable pups were born! The two on the left are the girls...and we would like a girl. We will hopefully be the proud parents of one of them by September. Big shout out to Darrin & Daniel for hooking us up with the breeder they got Sumo the Wonder Bulldog from! Let the countdown to the puppy homecoming begin!

*Note: I realize that a few years ago I was NOT a fan of dogs...and to be honest, I am not a super fan of them now. I have learned to tolerate them though which is a huge step for me. I have been told though that as soon as I hold that little puppy I will instantly love that dog. I guess it's kinda like kids...you may not love other people's kids, but you love your own?!?

Just Gimmee a Snack Pack

Remember these little beauties? I was watching a tv show with the husbro last night and a guy was eating these...he said something about remembering them tasting better when he was a kid. I started thinking about the stuff I used to eat all the time as a kid, but have not had in YEARS! This fake creamy yellow "cheese" and butter crackers are on that list!
So are all of the other gems below!
Oh yes...I loved me some BOLOGNA! My Bologna has a first name...it's M-A-Y-O! I would have bologna and mayonnaise on white bread sandwiches all the time. (My apologies to Brother, who if reading this...just threw up a little)!
My other favorite sandwich growing up was white bread, crusts cut off, with sugar and cinnamon inside. Without the crusts, the white bread would squish and seal the sugary goodness inside! I would get home from school and whip one of those up...or about 15-20 of the little nuggets of awesomeness below! PIZZA BAGELS - LOVED THEM!
Hello Carl's Jr Famous Star with Cheese! I think Wendy and I ate this burger (w/out nasty raw onions) with fries and a soda about 5 times a week in our junior & senior years in high school. We afforded that lil' habit by paying with change a lot of the time that we "found" in my dad's change jar in his bottom drawer of his high-boy dresser. Embarrassing to roll-up in the drive through with a handful of change? Nope, not me! Crack addicts aren't embarrassed by paying for their fixes with their gold crowns so why should I be. No judgement.
Although just looking at the pic below now, makes my stomach turn.
Oh the wonders of Fun Dip! This was a favorite of mine from the Ice Cream Man. Side note: how creepy is the ice cream man? I can't believe I was so NOT phased by the strange man who sold me candy and ice cream that often looked very questionable and tampered with. Oh to be young and trusting again. Nowadays when I hear the ice cream man, I want to call out to the children to run away! You could get hepatitis kids! It's not worth a big stick or 50/50 bar! I digress...

Looking back, it's not only a miracle I am not 300 lbs and battling diabetes...but most of these treasures look totally unappealing to me. Bring on my new favorites - Strawberries, Bananas, Sea Bass and Artichokes (with Mayo) ...somethings I will NEVER give up!

For My Mom...

Last week we rolled out a new menu at CPK...when we roll out new items we have to delete menu items to make room for the newbies. We happened to delete the Shrimp Scampi pizza this time around and that happens to be my mom's favorite pizza. How do I know this? Oh...because she decided to go on our CPK corporate Facebook page and post the following comment:

"No more Shrimp Scampi Pizza?! Whoever is in charge of menu changes ought to be fired!!!"

Wow...thanks for the shout out mom. I immediately called my mom (at 11:30 pm) to call her out her sassy comment on our page, to which she responded with "well, it's my favorite pizza." It turns out nobody likes to be told or even believes that the item they like the most sell the worst nation-wide. I told her, "mom, you are basically saying my boss should be fired." To which she responded with "if you had anything to do with it being deleted you should be fired too." Jeez mom...it's shrimp, garlic and lemon bordelaise butter on a pizza crust.

So...that was last week. I come in to work this morning and get an email from our guest relations coordinator forwarding me an email from a customer. Below is what the customer wrote:

"It disgusts me that 'Shrimp Scampi Pizza' has been removed from your menu. My husband and I were infatuated with this meal, and it had become our sole thing that we had in common. Our relationship was built upon this pizza, for our first date was at CPK and so was our last. Since the death of this beloved pizza, we both were aware of the upcoming fate: our relationship was doomed for death as well. We recently split, and the only person, or company, I have to thank is you. So, Thank you. Thank you for ruining my life. Thank you for causing my soul mate to leave me. Thank you for making me the crazy cat lady I feared I would become. Thank you, and have a nice life. Goodbye."

Well mom...I guess it could be worse huh? Thanks for not posting the above message on our Facebook page.

Preach it Jodie!

On the ELLEN show today she had Jodie Nelson (ex-pro surfer and current paddle boarder) who recently encountered a whale while paddle boarding for breast cancer awareness. The whale swam with her for 2 hours and became a little sensation on the news.Jodie went on the ELLEN show to talk about how after the news picked up the story about her and the whale, she ended up bringing her $9,000 in fundraising to $125,000 because of the coverage. The interview was fun and Jodie is super cute. I was super pumped when she answered one of Ellen's question by giving the Glory to GOD! I could not find a video of it to post...but here are the goods:

She said she wouldn't be on the ELLEN show and raising so much money if it were not for Larry (the name she gave to the whale). Then she continued:

"I really feel like God played a huge role in this. We got up that morning at 4:15 and my sister, Angela and I prayed...and my sister prayed that God would just reveal his beauty in nature and the beauty of the human body that I could endure this trek (the 9 hour paddle boarding). And so when Larry showed up it was just...it wasn't a huge surprise to me because I just knew that God had orchestrated all of it."

It was awesome. God is GOOD!...All the Time!

Split?...More like Screaming for Help!

Nope...that's not straw...not hay...not broken toothpicks! That is my hair! Well not my hair, but some poor schmucks hair that I google imaged to get my point across. My point you ask?

I NEED A HAIRCUT! And a lil' color I might add.

My last hair cut and/or color was in early November. (May I add that it was cut and colored by a beautiful and sassy mother of 2 who works magic on these locks!)

Fast forward 7 months...my roots are so long that I get grumpy in the mornings while brushing my hair in the mirror wondering how I let myself go. My morning and evening commutes consist of me sitting in traffic picking at my split ends - which has not only coated my floorboard with the "straw" pictured here, but I may need new brakes from the amount of times I have slammed on them to avoid smacking into the car ahead of me. I think that for me...split ending is more dangerous than texting while driving.

So, for the sake of my mirror image...for the sake of innocent 405 commuters...for the sake of looking good on my upcoming European vacation at the end of the month - HELP me Hippo Brigade!
