I have not been bloggin lately. I have been busy and tired. Busy with work. Busy with life. Busy with my own thoughts. And Tired! Tired from work and especially tired from the 6 weeks of 4:15 am alarm clock wake-ups. Well...I am hoping to pick the blogging back up because the BURN is officially over.
Here's how it ended up:
I am happy with the results for sure. I am thinking that the gal might have measured my waist incorrectly the first day or maybe I was just bloated. She did measure over my t-shirt and on the first day and then I got measured straight on my skin the last day. Either way...I have no problem with "loosing" over 5" on my waist! I gained 2 pounds and she said that it is clear I gained 2 pounds in muscle because my body fat decreased by about 2% and my BMI went slightly up.
My last Fit Test went really well too. I am still working on my V-Ups as they are still lowercase v's right now...got keep strengthening my core! I am the best at Power Jacks and Frog Leaps...I guess I am good at jumping. And holy cow! I was able to finally understand the mystery of the SEATED LEG LIFT!!! Were they perfect form? NO. But I don't give a flying rip, because I was legitimately lifting both legs at the same time and not totally leaning back. Victory in my book.
I will not be enrolling in another 6-week session of the BURN. Not because I don't want to work out...but because there is NO way I am continuing to get up that early all the time. Instead, the twin and I signed up for Monday night Zumba classes and will be peppering in Thursday morning (5 am) BURN classes, which are the cardio/weight training combo days only. We will also being doing Body by Betthany (yoga) once a week and then some other outside activity one other day during the week. 4 days a week people...that is our goal. Shout out to Sarah Fitz for intodusing up to the BURN. My waist thanks you!

Half Way Point
I realize that people really don't care much about my BURN progress...but this blog is more of a digital scrapbook for me anyway, so feel free to pass on by to a celebrity gossip website, pinterest or your favorite online shopping site at this time.
I am now 3 weeks (and 1 day) through my BURN. The great news is the soreness is NOT an issue anymore. Do I get sore? Sure, but NOTHING compared to what it was like that first week, so really it feels like heaven to have slight aches and tightness.
We had our 2nd fit test on Thursday and it felt way better than day 1. I probably would have just quit on the spot if I had done worse.
Week 1 Week 2
Power Jacks 28 34
Plank Squats 8 16
Knee Tuck Jumps 9 17
V-Ups 1 20
Burpees 4 1
In N Outs 7 25
Frog Leaps 5 15
Push up Jacks 8 22
Seated Leg Lifts 0 0
Push up Squats 6 12
So...I technically did 9 burpees, but 3 were before she started timing and 5 of them I did not jump both of my legs out at the same time or it took my 2 hops back to get to plank position and our instructor yelled to me at the end of the time limit - "Snell, you know you can only count 1 of those right?" I have a hard time with these suckers. My legs get so tired that they refuse to behave in the way my brain is telling them to behave.
You will also notice that I continue to have ZERO for the Seated Leg Lift. This was a low moment for me, but it made people laugh. The instructor told me that she wished she could have had the whole minute on video so she could post it to YouTube. It went a little something like this...
I struggle to move my legs...I must have looked like I was having a stroke...I lifted each leg one at a time to see if they even moved that way...they did...they just would not move at the same time. The random thing is...I google imaged the seated leg lift and there were ZERO pics of the way she has us do them. They all have people lifting one leg at a time. I ask you people, sit down like this lady here...don't lean back, place those hands to the side...and lift BOTH legs at the SAME time.
Let me know...am I alone here??? Can you also see why my heavy shoes may be playing a role in my epic failure?

Life's a Beach
Lucky for me, Pye & Tim's wedding anniversary is tomorrow and they came down to San Clemente for the weekend. Tim had some classes to attend, so I took advantage of Pye's free time close to me and we headed to Dana Point to do some beach and tide pool fun.
Karis, David and Wendy came too, then eventually Kirk, Tim and Stella all showed up as well. I forget often how great it is to live so close to the beach.
After the beach we headed to Salt Creek for some dinner at Smokey's BBQ, some smooching time for Iz and Karis and found out very quickly how much Eli LOVES dogs!

Iz kept showing off his awesome "surfing" skills. This was right after his first Wipe Out!
You gotta love that Pye can take amazing pictures with Eli strapped to her...
Love this kiddo
Seriously...love!
Karis' FIRST time at the beach...even though we live less than 10 miles from it...

Eli loved everything about Stella - the licking, the sniffing - he wanted to saddle up and ride her!
If these 2 aren't made for each other I just don't know who is!
