Pye

I mesh well with dudes. I have always found it easier to make friends with that Y chromosome. I work in a department with men only except me and I thrive on it. One member of our team went back to the stores last week and during his going away dinner my boss mentioned that it would be interesting to have a female apply to take his place. Instantly my mind went "uhh, no thank you!"

This all being said...I am so thankful that I also have a superb (and might I add beautiful) group of girlfriends that I am obsessed with. They are smart, quirky, funny, unique and one of my favorite is Mariah. We have known each other for over 15 years and I have never met a more creative and nurturing spirit. Pye encourages me and has this sense of confidence in her friends that it unreal.

This month Mariah turned 30 years old and the twin and I decided that she needed a birthday night out with ladies only. Away from the hubs, away from the munchies and with awesome food and cocktails. Wendy made reservations at one of our favorite restaurants Stonehill Tavern in Dana Point for the 3 of us and the fabulous Jessica (who could also use a night off from the crazy world of little Y chromosomes running around her life).
Cheers to 30 years Pye!

Our amuse bouche - Sweet Corn Soup with a Swiss Cheese Dipper.
I love me a free-bee from the Chef!
The deep fried Jidori Chicken! Carved table-side by a handsome waiter!
Sitting on top of Chinese long beans with truffle mac n cheese and topped with crispy onion rings.

More free treats from the chef!
Happy Birthday Mya! I can't believe I have known you for over half your life!!! I am blessed to have you in my life and can't wait to celebrate your 60th with you.

Indy 2012

How can you NOT have fun when you are with the Caruana's???!!! We spent almost 8 days in HOT Carmel, Indy with them over the 4th and had such a relaxing and fun time. Lot's of good food, good conversation, good gaming and approximately 2 episodes of Duck Dynasty a night...which just might be my new favorite reality tv show.

We got there around 8 pm the night before the 4th and because Lolly is super awesome she had put off dinner and had taco salad waiting for us. Then after dinner I subtly mentioned how great it would be to have her famous cookie dough...and it worked...we ended up getting the goods the next day and took the rest of the week eating dough and cookies. Kirk was actually pretty disturbed at the amount of raw cookie dough I ate. I asked him if he was concerned I was going to gain weight and he said, "No, I think you are going to get worms or something."

The first afternoon we were there it was SO hot, so we hit up the pool and Karis was in heaven!
 Swimin' Cousins
She loves to splash and scream
The guys taught her the art of surfing

We hit up the outlets...because shopping on vacation is always a must! On this little outing, Karis had her first ice cream. Then she also had Dippin' Dots...which she LOVED!
She kept doing her sign for "more!"

The twin finally found shoes that fit the Bear's super thick lil' loaves.
The guys went shooting one day. David's shooting stance...
 Josh's shooting stance...
 Kirk's shooting stance...
Hannah had an awesome birthday party filled with fun ideas from Lolly for the girls to do. She had me teach the gals how to make my signature puffs and also had Kirk teach a cooking demo on his Peanut Butterscotch "Cookies"...It was awesome. Only Lolly could talk him in to doing that and he was so great with the kiddos. Food Network should be calling soon.
Wendy set up the candy bar and the table.
 Edible Creations a la Lolly
I had to throw this pic in...I went to follow the bear to snap some photos of her and I caught her in a private moment. She was working out her business and this is her facial expression when someone interrupts her biz.
Karis learned to LOVE dogs in person as opposed to how she loves Stella (from behind glass doors).
This may be my new favorite picture of the Bear. Just hanging out after breakfast.
Many games were played...bananagrams, chutes & ladders, sequence and a rousing game of Monopoly Star Wars Edition.
Karis broke in her new forward facing car seat and her shades!
Uncle Kirk and the Bear taking a lil' walk after church.
The twin sneakin' a peek of some statue bum.
 The whole gang!
We had some amazing burgers at the famous Bub's!
And we spent some quality time at the park.
They have way cooler parks in Carmel than what I have seen near my house.
I mean, their park has a water playground that Karis went nuts in. Get ready for cuteness overload...

Can you spot all 4 kiddos?

Caleb was super excited to push Karis on our walk.
During our walk we found out that in Carmel they don;t have normal ice cream trucks roaming the streets...they have Shaved Ice Trucks!!! Please and Thank You!

 Just Yum!
 Swinging with mommy!
Hannah showing her swing dismount skills.
Kirk reliving his high school tennis glory days.
 The Bear in the wild.
 Everyone loves the Ipad
 Cozy mornings

David & Hannah having some fun...

Someone is very passionate about her peach puffs!
 Flying Bear!
 Cousins!
 Picking out some treats!

The Bear (and the rest of us) can't wait to go back to Carmel!
