That was not the most comfy position though, so she eventually hit the back of the car but managed to punish us for it with some gassy love for our ride. She managed to time it right around our way through Bakersfield, so it kinda blended right in.
Kirk's pops lives on ranch land with dogs and horses. Stella got along just great with the other dogs, but she pretty much crapped herself when she saw the horses. By the end of our trip, she was "assisting" in horse feeding time, but she made sure not to get too close.
We went up to Turlock on Thanksgiving afternoon to visit Kirk's grandma. It was great to see her. She is in an assisted living situation, which comes with its unique qualities...smells you can't quite determine, residents yelling at nurses "don't touch my stuff!" and Kirk's grandma telling us VERY loudly how much she hates it when her roommate puts anything on her side of the room (right in front of her roommate). Note to self: If and when we have kids, start at a young age convincing them what good things will come from them taking me into their home when I am old and too sarcastic for my own good.
Grandma Jean!
The rest of the trip was great and we were able to kill two birds by getting a hook up from one of Kirk's dads friends who does custom woodwork. Now that we have our vanity on order, I feel like we may get this bathroom renovation done by 2013! We said goodbye and took off on Friday afternoon for the long drive back. This time Stella was so torn on needing to sleep and wanting to be close to Kirk, she fell asleep standing up while leaning on his arm. Puppies go night night!
